Interventional Pulmonology | Hackensack University Medical Center
Hackensack University Medical Center is proud to have two highly trained Interventional Pulmonologists who are at the forefront of the technical advancements in the field of Interventional Pulmonology.
Dr. Nadeem Ali is one of the leading Interventional Pulmonary providers in the region. He received his training at Newark-Beth Israel and has created one of the leading endobronchial valve programs in the state at Hackensack Meridian Health.
Dr. Sean McKay joined Hackensack Meridian Health after years in the military at Walter Reed as one of their primary Interventional Pulmonary providers. He brings years of experience in EBUS, airway stenting, bronchoscopic management of lung cancer, and medical pleuroscopy to Hackensack Meridian Health.
Cases now are performed in a brand new procedure suite with state of the art technology including the Robotic Ion Bronchoscopy system with 3D spin CT technology to more accurately biopsy even small nodules. Cases from the region are referred to our IP group via email: interventionalpulm@hmhn.org
Fellow Experience in Interventional Pulmonology
- Fellows at Hackensack Meridian Health are fortunate to have an abundant exposure to both routine procedures including bronchoscopy, thoracentesis and chest tubes and advanced procedures including EBUS, robotic bronchoscopy, airway stenting, placement of endobronchial valves and cryobiopsies including cryo-EBUS.
- Fellows have dedicated weeks on the Procedure rotation but also perform abundant procedures on Pulmonary service weeks and in the ICU
- Our fellows have assisted in the placement of endobronchial valves in over 30 patients in the past year.
- The ION robotic bronchoscopy system has been used over 500 times at Hackensack to assist with the biopsy of small nodules that used to be difficult to sample allowing patients to be diagnosed with their cancer earlier and with less risk.
