A Boost for Emergency Pediatric Services

Brian Baslin didn’t know much about Hackensack Meridian Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank when his family moved to Monmouth County from Brooklyn seven years ago. A recent tour, however, convinced him there was a gem right in his backyard.
“I was very impressed with Riverview,” said Brian, who is retired. Brian and his wife Tina, president of a lighting supply company, have gifted the medical center $50,000 to be directed toward pediatric care. “I like to pay everything forward,” he said. “I feel that no child should ever be in pain.” The Baslins are parents to 12-year-old twin boys.
Their gift will be directed toward creating pediatric-friendly beds in the new and expanded Alton A. Hovnanian Emergency Care Center being planned at Riverview: two in the main area and two in the emergency psychiatric services area, said Sheri Marino, executive director of Riverview Medical Center Foundation.
“The safe space in our Emergency Department for children in crisis is made possible by generous donors like Brian and Tina Baslin,” she said. “Their thoughtfulness impacts entire communities, especially during vulnerable times. The Baslins are truly a gift to Riverview and we are forever grateful for their support.”
Planning for the reimagined Emergency Care Center at Riverview is well underway, with the design calling for a total of 40+ patient rooms and treatment bays to allow for more efficient operations and spaces designed for specific medical needs. When complete, the center will include additional secured psychiatric space, a new Diagnostic Imaging Center to expedite testing results, 37 private patient rooms and specialty areas for trauma, decontamination and more.
