Genetics and Genetic Counseling for Children
Supporting Informed Health Decisions Through Personalized Genetic Care
At Hackensack Meridian Children’s Health, our Center for Genetic and Genomic Medicine is one of the largest and most advanced programs in New Jersey. We offer comprehensive genetic evaluation and counseling services for individuals of all ages, from newborns to adults, throughout the region.
Our team is here to support you and your family with expert, compassionate care. Whether you're seeking answers about a recent diagnosis, exploring family history, or considering future health risks, we’re here to walk with you through each step of the process.
What Makes Our Genetic Services Different
We combine the latest innovations in genomic testing with a deeply personal approach. Our board-certified geneticists and licensed genetic counselors take time to build relationships with each individual and their family. From the first consultation to long-term follow-up, we provide education, emotional support, and clear guidance, especially when facing potentially complex or difficult decisions.
Genetic counseling services are available for:
- Understanding a diagnosis or symptoms
- Evaluating inherited conditions or family medical history
- Reproductive risk assessment and anticipatory guidance
We proudly serve families across New Jersey and beyond, offering both in-person and virtual consultations when available.

- Skeletal disorders (Marfan syndrome, skeletal dysplasia)
We also provide carrier testing for individuals with a positive family history or those planning to start a family.
Why Genetic Counseling Matters
Genetic counseling provides more than just medical information. It helps families make sense of their health history, understand potential risks, and feel empowered to make decisions with confidence.
We believe in meeting families where they are and offer support that’s grounded in compassion, clarity, and real-life needs.
