Family & Friends Support Group
Finding Strength and Connection Through the Circle of Support
Supporting someone you love through addiction or recovery can be overwhelming, uncertain, and emotional. You’re not alone in that journey. The Circle of Support at Blake Recovery Center, part of Hackensack Meridian Health Carrier Clinic in Belle Mead, New Jersey, offers a safe and welcoming space for family members, friends, and significant others to come together, share experiences, and learn from one another.
Our confidential sessions provide a combination of professional guidance and peer connection to help participants better understand addiction, recovery, and how to maintain healthy boundaries and self-care along the way. The goal is to help loved ones feel more supported, informed, and empowered, both for themselves and the person they care about.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can join the Circle of Support?
This group is open to anyone over age 18 supporting someone with addiction or in recovery. That includes parents, spouses, siblings, extended family, close friends, adult children, mentors, or sponsors. The person in recovery does not attend the sessions. Participants must be age 18 or older at this time. We are exploring additional groups and resources for the future.
What happens during a typical session?
Each session begins with a check-in to share how participants are feeling. Discussion topics may include coping skills, communication, healthy boundaries, understanding addiction as a disease, and prioritizing self-care. Participants are invited, but never pressured, to share their experiences and reflections.
Can I attend if my loved one is not in treatment?
Yes. You do not have to wait until your loved one begins treatment to seek support. The Circle of Support can help you better understand addiction, navigate difficult emotions, and learn strategies for caring for yourself during this process.
Is there a cost to participate?
No. The program is offered completely free of charge to make support accessible to everyone who needs it.
Can I attend more than once?
Absolutely. You are welcome to attend as often as you’d like, whether that’s every week or occasionally. Each session offers new insights and community connection.
