2025 Urology Milestones at Hackensack University Medical Center Coincide with National Ranking Bump
Department of Urology moves the needle in clinical care, research and medical education on regional and international fronts

Reflecting on 2025, the Hackensack University Medical Center Department of Urology’s commitment to excellence drove milestones in innovation, international leadership and outstanding patient outcomes.
In tandem, the department earned its highest-ever ranking of No. 12 in the nation on the 2025-26 U.S.News & World Report Best Hospitals list for Adult Urology care—up from No. 17 in 2024-25. Further, U.S. News & World Report named Hackensack University Medical Center an Honor Roll (top 20) hospital nationally for clinical excellence and the No. 1 hospital in the New York/New Jersey Metro area. This is the first time a New Jersey hospital has been named to the national Honor Roll list.
This recognition comes as team members this year pioneered groundbreaking urologic care using the most advanced technology, expanded use of robotic surgery, incorporated AI into operating rooms to help better understand surgical performance and deliver outcomes that exceed national benchmarks for safety, quality, and excellence. The team also engaged in research and clinical trials exploring promising new treatment options for prostate cancer, recurrent UTIs, and other conditions.
The department’s mission to advance urological care extends beyond the hospital’s four walls. Through publications, presentations, international training and humanitarian missions the team continues to improve access to leading-edge urology care by sharing knowledge and experience with colleagues and patients worldwide.
An expanded footprint in Clifton, enhanced recurrent UTI services, robust clinical trial portfolio, and community outreach efforts, including a Men’s Health Day event, help connect patients across the region with the urological services they need close to home. Hackensack University Medical Center urologists also travel overseas to educate colleagues on the latest technologies and techniques, improving global health and benefiting patients worldwide.
