Position

Adult Clinical Neuropsychology (NMS Program code #9952)

The Resident will conduct neuropsychological evaluations on an outpatient basis (3 days/week) for patients with a wide variety of neurologic conditions. While MCI/dementia is the most common referral, the Resident will also see individuals with traumatic brain injury, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and other conditions. Pre-surgical evaluations (e.g., DBS, resection) are also expected. In addition to evaluations, the Resident will participate in tumor rounds and epilepsy case conferences. There will likely be the opportunity to participate in a Wada.

Scholarly Activity

Residents are expected to participate in research and demonstrate scholarship consistent with a scientist-practitioner model of training in neuropsychology. All residents are expected to spend approximately 10% of their time devoted to research activities. Residents are expected to complete an individual research study or participate in ongoing research projects through the department.

Training Activities

Various didactics are offered within the Cognitive Rehabilitation Department and at JFK Medical Center. The Resident will participate in mock ABPP examinations, neuropsychology rounds, epilepsy case conference, tumor rounds, journal club, and research meetings.

Supervision

Individual supervision is an integral part of the training program. Supervision is provided by Monique Tremaine, Ph.D., Sara Michaud, Ph.D., ABPP-CN, Maria Wedin, Ph.D., Tasha Mott, Ph.D., and Amy Hradil, Ph.D. The residency meets the post-graduate clinical and supervision requirements for licensure as a psychologist in the State of New Jersey. Approximately 2,000 hours of training is provided each year. For residents who intend to use their experience toward New Jersey licensure, it is necessary to obtain a 3-year permit directly from the New Jersey Board of Psychological Examiners.

Supervision Opportunities

The Resident will have the opportunity to supervise undergraduate students through our formal internship program with Rutgers University.

Compensation

Salary is $60,175 annually, with an all-inclusive benefits package offered to full-time employees (including: medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage).
